Character Design
Below is a series of characters that I explored using a variety of shapes to construct heads and bodies.
The Great Teacher
A story of an old wizard and his student told in 5 consecutive images drawn in colored pencil.
Opposing Groups
I was tasked with designing two character groups opposite from each other. I decided to create two different types of families. The Matthews family is ordered and mannerly. However, their family photo reveals they might not have it all together. I used rectangles and squares to construct the Matthews family because of the supposed rigidness of their characters. The Jupiters Family is loud, raucous, and out of this world. I combined the curvilinear forms of various animals with their human forms to further emphasize the aliens’ eccentricity.
